Job Summary

Accountant to support the OSC’s SRO/IPF oversight within the Trading and Markets Division. Responsibilities include reviewing financial and regulatory filings submitted by SROs/IPFs and other market infrastructure entities, assessing accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and risk indicators; supporting policy development and regulatory initiatives; conducting research on emerging issues; preparing briefing materials and summaries; and liaising with internal/external stakeholders to support information gathering and coordination on regulatory matters. The role requires CPA designation, 1–3 years of relevant experience, strong data analysis, and excellent communication skills to contribute to market integrity and investor protection.

Required Qualifications

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant designation in good standing
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the capital markets, financial services, accounting, audit, regulatory, or public policy environment
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles, internal controls, and risk assessment concepts
  • Strong data analytical skills with the ability to review complex information, identify key issues, trends, outliers and emerging risks to develop sound recommendations
  • Strong research skills and the ability to assess implications of new or emerging issues on regulatory frameworks and oversight activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely using plain language
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments, financial markets, or market participants (SROs and IPFs) would be an asset
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of the Canadian securities regulatory environment and the role of market infrastructure entities would be an asset
  • Experience working with disclosure and regulatory filings and policy initiatives related to market infrastructure and dealer oversight

Desired Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) in good standing

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles, internal controls, and risk assessment concepts
  • Strong data analytical skills with ability to review complex information, identify key issues and emerging risks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to present complex information clearly and concisely using plain language
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments, financial markets, or market participants (SROs, IPFs) would be an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Understanding of Canadian securities regulatory environment and market infrastructure entities would be an asset
  • CPA-related regulatory oversight experience (preferred)
  • Experience preparing briefing materials, memos, summaries, and written analyses
  • Experience liaising with internal/external stakeholders on regulatory matters
