Job Summary
Prepare accounting entries, intercompany eliminations, and account reconciliations while analyzing financial results and supporting the monthly close process. Research discrepancies, resolve issues, and assist with variance analysis, audit requests, and special projects to ensure accurate GAAP-compliant reporting. Compile financial information including forecasts versus actuals, regulatory reports, and quarterly income statements for internal and external stakeholders. Perform calculations related to interest, cash flow, and variances, while assisting in the development of spreadsheet models. This intermediate role supports the Refined Products and Crude Financial Reporting team at a Fortune 500 midstream service provider.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other related field
- Experience with and knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and procedures
- Experience performing an intermediate level of accounting activities such as financial accounting, property accounting, account classification, or gas accounting
- Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software
- Experience and/or training related to: Financial accounting and reporting standards and processes
- Experience and/or training related to: Economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions
- Experience and/or training related to: Gas accounting activities and terminology
- Experience researching, composing, reconciling, and preparing reports, invoices, studies, and correspondence applicable to position
- Ability to: interact, advise and communicate effectively
- Ability to: develop and present information to individuals and groups
- Ability to: communicate and/or exchange information; conduct oral presentations
- Ability to: apply math, algebra, and statistical methods
- Good understanding of midstream accounting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Sound judgment
- Valid driver's license
