Job Summary
Accountant II within the City Finance Department performing mid- to advanced-level municipal accounting tasks. Responsibilities include general ledger, fund accounting, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing, accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, bank reconciliations, cash management, budgeting support, and involvement with audits and regulatory reporting. Applies GASB/GAAP standards, conducts financial analysis, reconciles data, and may mentor less experienced staff. Requires independent judgment in applying accounting principles and ensuring accuracy, compliance with policies, and preparation of supporting schedules and reports.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration or related field preferred
- Minimum two (2) years progressively responsible accounting experience including general ledger, financial reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis; municipal/governmental accounting experience preferred
- Minimum two (2) years experience with computerized accounting systems and financial software; experience supporting financial reporting, month-end/year-end closing, audit preparation, or budget support preferred
