Job Summary
Review and analyze financial data, perform cash and account reconciliations, maintain general ledgers, generate purchase orders, prepare journal entries, and enter data. Post cash receipts and disbursements to journals and ledgers, maintain tracking spreadsheets, and prepare monthly closing journal entries. Perform account analysis, reconcile bank statements and inter-fund balances, process invoices for payment, and reconcile discrepancies. Provide purchasing and invoice status updates to staff and vendors, coordinate with auditors and state agencies, and complete departmental reports. This full-time, onsite role reports to the Vice President of Accounting and is part of the AFSCME union.
Required Qualifications
- A two-year college degree in accounting or a related field
- Minimum of two years of industry experience
- Experience preparing journal entries and accruals
- Experience with bank and account reconciliation
- Experience with account analysis
- Ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Ability to understand a complex charts of accounts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience using customized software programs
- Strong written and verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to recognize and resolve errors and omissions
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Ability to manage time
- Ability to set priorities
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to be relied upon to be available for work
- Ability to spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
