Job Summary
Accountant I – Budget/General Ledger handles specialized accounting, budget control, and clerical tasks to maintain financial and statistical records. Responsibilities include assembling and verifying accounting data, preparing trial balances and financial statements, posting and reconciling journals and ledgers, operating computer-based accounting systems, and providing technical information to various agencies. The role may involve leading or guiding other personnel in related functions and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and legal requirements. Skills emphasize complex arithmetic, data analysis, familiarity with accounting systems, and strong written/spoken communication. The position requires the ability to type 40 WPM and work with standard office equipment; education requirements align with a high school diploma and related coursework. Required Qualifications
- Three years of highly responsible experience in accounting, payroll, or budget control record management and reporting, including one year in a lead or specialized capacity
- Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in elementary accounting, bookkeeping, business office organization and planning, or closely related fields
