Job Summary
Accountant position supporting the Finance Office with Accounts Receivable activities, including receiving, coding, and reconciling revenue and donor gifts, plus general accounting and admin support. Responsibilities include AR processing, daily deposit reporting, coding in Regions OnePass and Blackbaud Financial Edge/NXT, reconciliations between Development and Finance, donor stewardship communications, accounts payable support, assisting with annual audits and budgeting, and producing process documentation. Requires nonprofit accounting experience, strong Excel and MS Office skills, clear verbal and written communication, ability to manage multiple projects, and the ability to work in an animal shelter environment with occasional extended hours. Part-time, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, up to 25 hours/week, with potential for occasional extended hours; driving and a valid license required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Working knowledge of accounting and payroll systems and their typical functions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with stakeholders and exercise good judgment
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accountability and accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
