Job Summary
Prepare annual financial statements, management reports, and cash-flow forecasts for clients including trusts, partnerships, and sole traders. Reconcile accounts, maintain accurate records, and lodge income tax returns, BAS, IAS, and GST returns while liaising with the Australian Taxation Office. Provide taxation planning, business advisory on budgeting and profitability, and ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and ASIC requirements. Manage a portfolio of business and individual clients through consultations and respond promptly to enquiries using Xero, MYOB, and Reckon. Maintain confidentiality, stay current with legislative changes, and guide junior staff where required. This office-based role supports a firm providing taxation, accounting, and advisory services to individuals and not-for-profit organisations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting or a closely related discipline
- Membership of IPA, CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, or willingness to obtain membership
- At least five years of relevant post-qualification accounting experience
- Experience preparing financial statements, taxation returns and compliance reports
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and numerical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and cloud-accounting software skills
- Ability to manage multiple client files, priorities and deadlines
- Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation law
- Understanding of GST, BAS, payroll and financial reporting requirements
- Understanding of budgeting, business advisory and corporate compliance
- Understanding of accounting and financial-management systems
- Professional judgement and ethical conduct
