Job Summary
Maintain complete records for all construction projects and bond fund expenditures, ensuring budgets remain current and all payments are verified before approval. Oversee accounts payable processes for capital projects, track furniture and equipment purchases, and reconcile Project Management Software records with general ledger accounts monthly. Prepare comprehensive reports on bond proceeds, encumbrances, and major improvements for the Board of Trustees and third-party auditors, while serving as administrator and trainer for the district's project management system. Validate payment bonds and assist with process improvements across Operations departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, management, or business
- Five years of accounting experience
- Extensive knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principals established by the Governmental Accounting System Board (GASB)
- Knowledge of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide
- Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
- Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate financial data and accounting problems and recommend improved procedures
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and fund accounting
- Working knowledge of school board policy, administrative regulations and program directives concerning accounting procedures
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets, business documents and presentations
- Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects
- Knowledge of school district programs and grants
