Job Summary
Detail-oriented Accountant I responsible for month-end close, preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts, and producing accurate financial statements for a credit union. Will support GAAP-compliant financial reporting, including quarterly NCUA Call Reports and regulatory requirements, participate in audits, and contribute to process improvements. Requires experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting; strong Excel and accounting-system skills; ability to communicate clearly with non-accounting stakeholders and maintain confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum two years of experience in month-end close processes
- General ledger reconciliations
- Financial statement preparation
- Journal entry preparation
- Accounting within a financial institution or credit union (strongly preferred)
- Call Report preparation or regulatory reporting experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting principles
- Working knowledge of credit union or banking regulations and reporting requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage deadlines, work independently, and maintain strict confidentiality
