Job Summary
Accountant — Cost Accounting Focus responsible for daily accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and manufacturing cost accounting activities. Supports inventory valuation, standard cost review, variance analysis, and account reconciliations; collaborates with controller, accounting team, and operations to ensure accurate financial records and proper reporting of manufacturing costs. Key duties include preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, assisting with bank reconciliations, managing P2P and cash application as needed, and providing supporting schedules for audits. Also supports cost accounting activities such as standard cost updates, cost roll-up reviews, variances in material, labor, overhead, outside processing, scrap, and analysis of manufacturing margins; reconciles inventory records to the general ledger and assists with cycle counts, physical inventory, and cost variance reviews. Additional responsibilities cover fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, budgeting, forecasting, internal reporting, and process-improvement projects within the accounting department. Primarily office-based with additional hours during month-end close, year-end close, audits, or physical inventory.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience; manufacturing experience preferred
- Basic understanding of cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory accounting
- Experience with ERP systems preferred
- Strong Excel skills
