Job Summary
Experienced Accountant needed as an independent contractor for a remote role with a growing Australian accounting firm. Responsibilities include completing income tax returns across various entity types, preparing and lodging BAS, managing client files in Xero and XPM, identifying issues and proactively communicating with internal stakeholders, maintaining accurate client records, and contributing to process improvements with a solutions-oriented mindset. The position is remote, Philippines-based, with a 40-hour workweek aligning to AU business hours, and involves long-term contractual engagement embedded with Citrine team. Strong knowledge of Xero and related tools is required; experience with XPM, Xero Tax, BGL (SMSF), MYOB/QuickBooks is a bonus. Excellent English communication and ability to work independently in a remote environment are essential.
Required Qualifications
- 3–4+ years of experience in a public accounting or advisory firm
- Strong working knowledge of Xero (required)
- XPM and Xero Tax experience highly regarded
- Exposure to BGL (SMSF) or MYOB/QuickBooks is a bonus
- CPA/CA not essential — experience and capability valued over credentials
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision
- Reliable home office setup with strong internet and backup connectivity
