Job Summary
Account Manager for Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. (NPAA) responsible for MI and Canada accounts; independently manages all financial activities for assigned accounts, develops strategic plans for revenue growth, SOM improvement, and profitability, and leads cross-department collaboration. Travel within the territory to Lansing and Cleveland for customer meetings; enters sample orders, partners with Technical Team to pursue new business opportunities outside the assigned profile; maintains monthly account reports, forecasts, and budgets; leads pricing and contract development, manages aged inventory per supply agreements, and coordinates customer visits, audits, and program launches. Builds and maintains relationships across plants, purchasing, and engineering, while ensuring high customer satisfaction and measurable quality improvements; required to travel as part of the role and manage the entire account base within the Michigan and Canada territory.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- five (5) years of Automotive Coatings experience in Technical Service, Color Lab, Outside/Inside Sales or equivalent of 10+ years of coatings experience in Technical Service, Color Lab, or Inside/Outside Sales
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Previous OEM sales account management experience in automotive coatings preferred
- SAP and BOBJ experience preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
- 5+ years of Automotive Coatings experience in Technical Service, Color Lab, Outside/Inside Sales or 10+ years in coatings-related roles
- OEM sales account management experience in automotive coatings (preferred)
- SAP and BOBJ experience (preferred)
- Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Travel willingness to cover MI and Canada territory
