Job Summary
Accessories Shop Lead is the senior technical resource in the Accessories Department, reporting to the Accessories Shop Supervisor. The role leads daily shop activities, coordinates work assignments, and provides technical guidance while actively performing inspection, repair, overhaul, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of aircraft accessory components (hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical, and other components). Primary responsibilities include contributing to daily production output, mentoring technicians, leading by example, aiding complex repairs and troubleshooting, coordinating priorities to meet production schedules and customer commitments, ensuring work complies with OEM manuals, approved data, procedures, and FAA regulations, and promoting safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. The position requires hands-on work, technical leadership, training of technicians, and effective communication of work status and technical concerns to the Supervisor. Knowledge of FAA Part 145, OEM data interpretation, and robust documentation practices are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft component maintenance, hydraulic repair, landing gear accessories, or related aerospace maintenance environment
- Previous lead technician, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical, and mechanical accessory components
- Thorough understanding of FAA Part 145 repair station regulations and maintenance practices
- Ability to interpret OEM Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), service bulletins, engineering data, and technical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments, test equipment, and specialized tooling
- Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead, train, and mentor technicians while maintaining a productive workload
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Quantum Control, and other company systems
- Travel: May require occasional travel and off-site support
