Job Summary
Provide specialized instruction and communication support tailored to each student's individual needs across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Develop, implement, and oversee Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while adapting curriculum and instructional materials to ensure accessibility. Conduct assessments, monitor student progress, and foster independence through direct instruction using appropriate communication methods. Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and families to ensure full access to the curriculum, while offering consultation and training to staff to strengthen services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Eligible to obtain a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement
Desired Qualifications
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
