Access Service Specialist I - ED

The Access Service Specialist I (ED) is a hybrid role within Admitting Operations in the Emergency Department, rotating across multiple disciplines to perform triage, bedside registration, EMS desk duties, and ED zone support. Responsibilities include quick data collection and entry into the ADT system, obtaining financial responsibility and regulatory signatures (HIXNY consent), collecting demographics and insurance information at bedside, handling multi-line phone inquiries, and coordinating with EMS agencies, law enforcement, and clinical staff to ensure accurate patient identification and timely processing (e.g., chest-pain to EKG notifications). The role requires excellent communication, ability to work under high stress, patient-centric service, and adherence to regulatory requirements. The candidate should have a High School Diploma/G.E.D. with preferred Associate's degree and 1-3 years of customer service or clinical setting experience, and be able to stand for long periods and lift 35-50 lbs. The position is located in Hudson, NY, within Albany Medical Center’s Emergency Department operations.
