Job Summary

Direct assigned sports telecasts and oversee on-site management and administration of productions for the ACC Network. Execute directing activities for full-time, temporary, and matrixed staff, including creative, personnel, and administrative direction for all production aspects. Lead moment-to-moment editorial direction, cutting cameras, wipes, replays, and graphics with precision while facilitating custom controls programming on the video switcher. Manage pre-production assets, establish production schedules, and coordinate with producers to implement decisions regarding talent communication, instant replays, and graphics during live events. Requires a BA or BS with three to five years of live broadcast operations experience, mastery of sports production processes, and ability to operate control room equipment including video switchers and replay systems. Full-time role with on-call availability for after-hours and weekend coverage.

Required Qualifications

  • BA or BS in related field
  • three to five years related experience with the management of live broadcast operations
  • established ability to create and produce compelling sports news remote telecast and live events
  • established mastery of the sports production processes and the ability to produce assigned sports/events
  • working knowledge of real-time sports productions and graphics
  • established currency regarding technological advances in animation, video editing and graphics
  • considerable knowledge of what story ideas and concepts to use for assigned telecasts
  • four plus years of progressively complex related remote or related sports production experience
  • good knowledge of sports and sports history
  • ability to supervise student employees and free-lance
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • superior telephone etiquette
  • ability to deal effectively with students, faculty and staff, television networks, free-lance operators, as well as peers and management
  • Ability to operate control room equipment including but not limited to video switchers, replay systems, graphics for television, audio for television
  • Familiarity with Wake Forest campus, athletics, and off site competition venues
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of any current and future systems as well as train others on those systems
  • Knowledge of superior customer service standards and practices
  • Ability to work after hours and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by supervisor
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the University's automobile insurance
  • Knowledge of ACC/NCAA and ACC Network/ESPN regulations
