Job Summary
Install, troubleshoot, assemble, repair, and maintain tooling and equipment while conducting routine field tasks such as operating specialized machinery, taking measurements, and compiling data in high-stress environments. Maintain maintenance logs and certification documentation while complying with all safety and health rules, including personal dose compliance. Work flexible hours and shifts as required to ensure timely service, traveling up to 50% to various remote job sites. This cohort-based program alternates between classes at Central Virginia Community College and deploying to nuclear sites nationwide, with technicians earning credit toward a tuition-free associate's degree in Nuclear Technology.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older at date of hire
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Basic knowledge of mechanical tooling and equipment
- Basic communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships, work collaboratively within a team environment
- Good problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking
- Travel: Up to 50%
- Must meet eligibility requirements (see DOE 810 Appendix A)
