Job Summary
Plan and lead daily classroom instruction, administer academic assessments, and record attendance for Scholar Athletes. Facilitate engaging math or STEAM activities and provide oversight during mentoring, enrichment, mealtime, and field trips. Manage volunteers and coaches while maintaining an organized classroom setting and supporting transitions between learning activities and the field. Mediate behavioral challenges using restorative practices and coordinate logistics with program staff. Attend mandatory training and professional development during the school year and summer months.
Required Qualifications
- Must successfully clear a background check
- Must have U.S. work authorization
- Uphold Core Values: Innovation, Integrity, and Teamwork
- Relevant youth development experience
- Relevant experience in youth-based sports or academic activities
- Must be available during the Academy dates/hours: 1:00pm to 7:30pm on Tuesday-Thursday during the school year and from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Monday-Friday during the summer time
- Must be able to manage behavioral challenges posed by Scholar Athletes through mediation and restorative practices
- Ability to manage the classroom setting and provide support for assignments and lessons in STEAM for students in grades three through eight
- Commitment to working with youth and families in an under resourced community
- Commitment to achieving the articulated objectives of the Academy for Scholar Athletes, staff, and the community at-large
- Demonstrate leadership and motivational skills
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, run, jump, and climb up/down stairs
