Job Summary
Coach and mentor elementary, middle, and high school students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Plan and monitor individual student progress while working with teachers on whole class instruction, breakout spaces, and in-class assistance. Deliver literacy and math skills through varying learning activities, answer questions, and encourage assignment completion. Create and implement a behavior management system and develop interpersonal skills using proven strategies of learning, practicing, reflection, and repetition. Collaborate with teachers and team members to collect, record, analyze, and monitor student data in City Year's system. Support whole school initiatives by conducting extended day and virtual programming for academic enrichment, homework support, recreation, clubs, service learning, and leadership development. Create, support, and co-lead events recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
- Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
- Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
- Agree to and complete a background check
- Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025
