Job Summary
Plan and direct learning activities for adult incarcerated students while supervising classroom settings and teacher aides. Deliver instruction using the Windham School District curriculum guide, administer diagnostic and achievement tests, and manage student behavior with firm, fair, and consistent rules. Maintain accurate student progress records, lesson plans, and attendance logs in compliance with WSD and Texas Department of Criminal Justice policies. Participate in faculty meetings, staff development, and committee assignments as required. Provide clear oral and written instructions while ensuring a positive environment conducive to educational growth. Use innovative approaches to improve performance and meet assigned action plans. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and execute duties professionally in accordance with Texas educator ethics standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must meet State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) requirements for area of assignment
- Elementary or Secondary level certification in a foundation subject area
- Personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and instructions clearly and concisely
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures
