Job Summary
Academic Support Specialist (Pre-Nursing) Advises and supports pre-healthcare students; manages an advising caseload for first-year and undeclared second-year students using a skills-based advising pathway; assists Academic Coaches with the academic component of orientation and coordinates cross-department collaboration to build events, assign coaches, and extract student data to build schedules; oversees onboarding for new healthcare students; performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President. Requires a Bachelor’s in an advising-related field with 1-2 years’ experience, knowledge of majors, curriculum, and general education and graduation requirements—especially in healthcare fields—and strong interpersonal, multitasking, and technology skills for college reporting systems and tracking student progress.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in a higher education advising-related field
- 1-2 years of comparable experience
- Knowledge of majors and curriculum, general education and graduation requirements, and academic policy, especially in healthcare fields
- Experience working with the needs of students transitioning to college
- Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with academic coaches, students, and faculty/campus administrators
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and attention to detail
- Technology skills to use college reporting systems for advising, course selection, and tracking student progress
