Job Summary
Academic Specialist: 12 Month role supporting computer science and career technical education across Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Leads curriculum writing, professional development, and instructional coaching to align instruction with Maryland standards; supports schools with data-driven planning, program implementation, and countywide events. Requires a Master’s degree and MSDE educator certification eligibility, with several years of classroom teaching experience and ability to coordinate PD, curriculum design, and teacher leadership efforts. Flexible scheduling including evenings, summers, and occasional travel within the county.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in related field (education)
- Four (4) years classroom teaching experience
- One (1) year experience providing professional development to adult learners (preferred)
- Hold or be eligible for professional educator certificate/license appropriate to the assigned content area (MSDE)
- Driver's License Class C Non-Commercial
- Daily transportation access
- Ability to work evenings/nights, extended hours, weekends, and summers
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, data analysis, and instructional practices
- Ability to employ technology in instruction and PD
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
- Experience leading professional development and curriculum development
- Liaison with multiple departments and committees
