Job Summary
Walk 1 mile daily to and from the local school, drive a bus van to pick up students, and maintain a daily transportation log. Tutor youth in grades K–12 in subjects including math, science, history, and reading while monitoring homework and reading assignments for completion. Build relationships with children, youth, and families; plan and implement curriculum, activities, and family events like Troops and music programs. Assist with snacks, cleanup, and managing the learning environment to keep noise levels low and students engaged. Monitor hallways, classrooms, and computer labs for safety, and help lead or assist with various youth programs.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED completion
- Ability to read and write clearly in English
- Knowledgeable of basic math, reading, and writing skills
- Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license
- Must be 21 years old
- Must be willing to continually lift 30 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Ability to drive own and/or assigned TSA vehicles
- Possess or obtain within 90 days of hire, a current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificate card
- Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background check
- WA State Food Worker's Card must be attained within one month of employment
- Must be willing to serve a diverse population

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision

- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Must pass The Salvation Army's in-house driving test and Motor vehicles Records check
- Must be able to walk 1 mile to and from our local school for pickups daily
- Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, and file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
- Ability to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to operate the telephone
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer
- Ability to understand written information
- Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background check
- Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation
