Job Summary
Mentor students identified as working below grade level by providing additional instruction in basic academic skills (reading, writing, spelling, math) under the direction of a Principal. Work individually or in small groups; assist with classroom activities, homework, test preparation, and projects; help students understand and adapt to educational settings and develop organized study habits; supervise playground/recess as assigned; up to 20 hours per week, 12 months with 7.5 hours per day as assigned. Requires high school diploma or equivalent plus an Associate of Arts degree or 48 college units (or CBEST/ParaPro/CODESP passing score); fingerprinting and TB clearance; non-exempt FLSA status; Oakland Unified School District employment; 16.07–16.84 per hour suggested (hourly rate).
