Job Summary
Academic Instructors are needed to lead engaging classes for a diverse group of 9th graders in writing, math, reading, and learning activities. Each class will include about 15 students and materials are provided. The role is part-time, temporary, with a summer term from 7/1/26 to 8/1/26, 8:00–3:00 daily, at Gresham High School in Gresham, OR. Responsibilities include designing, planning, and delivering age-appropriate lessons, maintaining positive classroom expectations, following school behavior/safety procedures, and communicating with Site Manager, Principal, staff, and students. Applicants must pass a background check, demonstrate experience creating lesson plans, and show the ability to work independently and as part of a team in an inclusive environment. Spanish speaking skills are a plus. Compensation is $30 per hour. Metropolitan Family Service is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally able to work in the United States (documentation required for I-9)
- Experience in teaching children and creating lesson plans
- Experience working with groups of Middle School students and strong behavior management is a MUST
- Background check through Metropolitan Family Service and Gresham Barlow
- All employees must submit a criminal background check
- Hours 8:00-3:00
- Part-time, temporary employment for summer term
- Spanish speaking skills are a plus
