Job Summary
Teach personalized 1-to-1 Academic English (ESL) lessons to Mandarin-speaking students from elementary through high school, covering speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Deliver engaging instruction using Premier Academy's curriculum while adapting strategies to individual proficiency levels and learning goals. Monitor student progress, provide regular feedback to parents and management, and support transitions into U.S. schools by strengthening academic English and classroom communication. Create a positive, encouraging environment that builds confidence for school, daily life, and social interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in English, TESOL, Linguistics, Education, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Passion for teaching English language learners
- Ability to adapt lessons for students with different English proficiency levels
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching ESL, ELD, EFL, or Academic English
- Experience working with newly arrived immigrant students or English language learners
- Strong knowledge of the Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD), including ELD programmes and academic pathways
- Experience teaching in a tutoring centre, private school, or educational setting
