Academic Counselor (Poteet)

To support all students in their personal, academic, and career development through responsive services, guidance and individual planning so that they can reach their full potential as adults and members of the community. Responsibilities include providing individual and group counseling, leading developmentally appropriate guidance activities, planning orientation programs, coordinating scheduling/registration, supporting teachers and parents, collaborating with administrators on attendance and behavior concerns, assisting with special education referrals and 504 case management, interpreting data with students and parents, aiding the college-admissions process and financial aid, supporting post-secondary options, and delivering professional development on child abuse recognition/reporting, 504, and suicide prevention, as well as assisting with dual credit applications, and maintaining required records.
