Job Summary
Academic Coaches at Northampton Community College work part-time, approximately 10 to 25 hours per week, meeting with students one-on-one to facilitate their academic success. Responsibilities include aiding students in acclimation to the college environment, setting goals, enhancing academic skills, time management, and addressing academic challenges. They also conduct group workshops, collaborate with faculty and staff, and engage in continuous training including CRLA certification. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and experience in coaching or advising roles, along with strong communication skills and a passion for supporting student learning.
Required Qualifications
- Earned bachelor’s degree
- Previous experience in academic coaching, academic advising, tutoring, teaching, counseling, or another area related to supporting student success
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Genuine desire to help others learn, achieve success, and reach goals
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
- Knowledge of common challenges encountered by community college students
- Knowledge of student learning and development
- Strengths-based advising
