Job Summary
Conduct proactive outreach and academic coaching for students, prioritizing conditional active learners to address individual needs and ensure persistence. Deliver orientations and seminars for new and continuing students, including synchronous online sessions or phone consultations for remote learners. Facilitate successful course transitions and provide academic advisement on critical thinking, study skills, and content areas like math or chemistry. Respond timely to student inquiries, monitor attendance and progress, and intervene appropriately for at-risk students by collaborating with faculty to develop success plans. Document all interactions in College systems accurately and meet established service level agreements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Science, Math, English, or a medical related discipline
- Master's degree preferred
- Required degree(s) must be from institutions accredited by recognized U.S. accrediting agencies
- Degrees from non-U.S. institutions are recognized only if equivalence has been established and provided
- One to three years of education related work experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience in teaching/tutoring required
- Knowledge of APA format and online research protocols
- Strong learning management knowledge preferably Canvas
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence, transcribe minutes
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardize situations
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
- Ability to quickly learn proprietary systems that may be used at the College
