Aboriginal Tenancy, Support and Advocacy Practitioner

Job Summary
Aboriginal Tenancy Support and Advocacy Practitioner role provides outreach interventions and intensive case management to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families living in mainstream/public housing at high tenancy risk. You will build trusted relationships with renters, landlords, housing providers and government services to access culturally safe services, develop tailored case plans, advocate for tenants, and promote housing stability and wellbeing. Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act (Victoria) 1998 and collaboration with stakeholders to achieve ongoing tenancy outcomes is essential; the role requires strong administrative skills, communication/negotiation abilities, and demonstrated experience or qualification in related fields. The position is based in Bairnsdale, Victoria, and is offered on a part-time basis with in-person work.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Victorian driver’s licence
- Demonstrated equivalent expertise and experience to undertake a range of activities through a relevant degree, diploma, substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, training, service and/or study
- A satisfactory Working with Children Check
- Fit2Work Police Check
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements
