Job Summary
Cargo Agent in LIH on a full-time basis, starting at $20/hour. Responsibilities include routing inbound and outbound air freight shipments, arranging pickup and delivery to loading platforms, assembling cargo by destination, weighing items to determine cost using tariffs, directing or participating in cargo loading for proper weight distribution, itemizing charges and preparing freight bills, preparing manifests, adhering to security procedures and hazardous material handling requirements, unloading inbound freight, notifying consignees of arrivals, and coordinating mail loading/unloading. Requires the ability to scan/assemble mail, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and work varied shifts (including weekends/holidays). Must have a High School diploma or equivalency, ability to lift up to 75 lbs, qualify for a CBP seal, possess a valid driver’s license, be able to obtain an Airport Motor Vehicle Operating Permit, and obtain forklift certification for loading/unloading freight. Also requires basic math, typing/computer skills, and good communication.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 75 lbs
- Must be able to qualify and obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Protection seal
- Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain Airport Motor Vehicle Operating Permit
- Ability to obtain certification to operate forklift trucks for loading/unloading freight
- Detail oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Available to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
- Basic typing and computer skills
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Good communication skills
