Job Summary
Diagnose and repair major vehicle components, including engine systems, brakes, suspension, and electrical issues, while performing multi-point inspections and road tests. Execute repairs according to factory standards, document all work on repair orders, and utilize handheld devices to identify malfunctions. Maintain manufacturer certifications, participate in ongoing technical training, and mentor novice technicians. Ensure customer vehicles are returned clean and compliant with safety regulations, while communicating with service advisors regarding scope and timing.
Required Qualifications
- ASE certifications
- Manufacturer certifications
- Previous automotive technician experience
- Must have basic tools
- Must have great technical and mechanical skills
- Must be a team player
- Must be able to work repetitively on complex tasks
- Must be a minimum of eighteen years of age
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening
- Must be able to pass background check
- Must be able to pass drug test
- Must understand and complete required training for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Must comply with all federal, state and local laws regarding safeguarding customer vehicles, property and information
Desired Qualifications
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Must be able to communicate with service advisor
- Must be able to conduct road test
- Must be able to utilize product and technical training
- Must be able to participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs
- Must be able to maintain manufacturer (CSI) Customer Satisfaction Index at or above the Asbury specified goal(s)
- Must be able to complete the work, notations and time-keeping necessary to the successful completion of warranty repair orders
- Must be able to report to management any situation or condition that would jeopardize the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership
- Must be able to perform all levels of diagnosis and repair on automobile, and or, light truck vehicles
- Must be able to utilize hand held devices to diagnose malfunctions
- Must be able to assist and help fellow technicians in the shop with vehicle diagnosis
- Must be able to participate in the training and developing of novice team members/technicians in the shop
- Must be able to take care to ensure that customer's vehicles are returned to them as clean as they were prior to being serviced
