Job Summary
A.S. Sustainability Assistant supports sustainability initiatives across SDSU facilities, assisting with the administration and coordination of the Associated Students' sustainability mission. Responsibilities include logistical planning of sustainable events (speaker outreach, reservations, catering, zero-waste prep, budgets, promotions, vendor contracts, and event cleanup), maintaining storage and inventory, research on sustainable product alternatives, training staff and student volunteers, supporting environmental education materials, managing social media content, and assisting with LEED O+M prerequisite/credit verification. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and collaboration with multiple departments and student groups. Must be enrolled at SDSU at least half-time, be eligible to work in the United States, and be prepared to obtain First Aid/CPR within 30 days. A California driver’s license is required. This is a part-time position (up to 20 hours/week) with daytime hours Monday–Friday and occasional events evenings/weekends, based in San Diego, CA at SDSU locations. Experience with Windows, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, social media (Instagram/Facebook), and project management (Asana) is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in at least half time units at SDSU (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate).
- International students must have full-time enrollment at SDSU (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate).
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED certifications are required (must obtain within the first 30 days of employment)
- Valid California Driver's License required
- Previous experience volunteering or working for sustainability organizations is preferred
- Knowledge and background experience of sustainability required
- Previous involvement and experience working with groups of people as a team required
- Computer knowledge using Windows, Google Suite and Microsoft Suite, as well as social media, including Instagram and Facebook.
