Job Summary
A/C Mechanic I – Airframes Troubleshoots and repairs aircraft structures, including sheet metal, wings, fuselage, and related components using hand/power tools and equipment such as rivet guns, shears, and sheet metal brakes. Reads and interprets manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine repair methods; performs corrosion prevention/treatment per directives; conducts various inspections (pre/post, depot, zonal) per MRC and NAVAIR manuals; adheres to NAMP and related instructions. Requires knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, fabrication/repair of metal items, and use of specialized tools; may lead teams on complex tasks and document work in maintenance records. Performs electrical wiring and aircraft accessory work as part of maintaining airworthiness. Work environment includes potential exposure to noise, dust, heat/cold, and physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds; standard PPE required. Minimum three years of direct aviation maintenance experience; familiarity with NALCOMIS, OOMA, ALIS, and applicable NAMP/F-35 manuals and SOPs. Education: High School Diploma or GED. Location: USMC Cherry Point and New Bern, NC.
