Job Summary

Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft engines and related components, including installation and removal of QEC gear, fuel controls, and gearboxes. Interpret manufacturer publications and maintenance manuals to determine repair methods for malfunctioning systems. Assist in inspecting engines for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage while troubleshooting engine component failures. Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems using hand and power tools. Requires knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP), overhead crane usage, and hazmat procedures. Must maintain Tier 1 Security Clearance and possess physical ability to lift up to fifty pounds in cramped positions.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and programs covered by NAMP
  • Ability to perform basic aviation maintenance
  • Knowledge of and ability to use common and specialty tools as required IAW A1-F404A-MMI-200 Series Manuals
  • Familiarity with preoperational inspections and ability to perform on gear as required to ensure usability
  • Knowledge of overhead crane usage
  • Knowledge of proper hazmat procedures
  • Ability to perform all Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) training
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all levels of base access and Tier 1 Security Clearance
  • Physical clearance with no impairments that would prevent an individual from regular attendance, on time and able to perform all duties as required
  • Normal physical functions including frequent bending, reaching and climbing
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lifting heavier items with the assistance of other workers
  • Ability to work in cramped or awkward positions
  • Normal color perception
  • Ability to work in areas in the hangar and on the flightline that are noisy and dusty
  • Ability to be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, when applicable
