Job Summary
As a 988 Crisis Counselor, provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and information to help-seekers via telephone for Didi Hirsch’s Suicide Prevention Center. Responsibilities include answering calls quickly (target 95% within 20 seconds), performing safety assessments and safety planning, de-escalation, and follow-up, acting as a mandated reporter when needed, offering information and referrals, maintaining real-time documentation, mentoring trainees, and fulfilling continuing education requirements; participate in routine meetings and adapt schedules to agency needs. must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18+, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, reliable internet and quiet workspace, and pass pre-employment screening; role is fully remote with a 20-hour work week and a three-week, 40-hour training at start.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of six months of relevant behavioral health experience
- one year of experience in crisis intervention or suicide prevention strongly preferred
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Possess a high school Diploma or equivalent
- Be empathetic, flexible, and adaptable to varying situations
- Have open availability and flexibility to work within the program’s operating hours, including weekends and holidays
- Have knowledge of all job specific skills including safety assessment, data collection, and triage
- Successfully pass our pre-employment screening, including a background check and live scan fingerprinting
- Ability to document interactions in real time
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use web-based platforms and electronic documentation systems
- Strong typing and data entry skills
