988 Crisis Counselor

988 Crisis Counselor handles crisis intervention and emotional support for help seekers via telephone, with a program goal of answering 95% of calls within 20 seconds. Responsibilities include completing safety assessments and safety planning, de-escalation, and follow-up; serving as a mandated reporter in abuse/neglect cases; providing information and referrals; maintaining real-time, accurate contact reports; mentoring volunteers during training; fulfilling continuing education requirements; attending routine meetings; and adhering to program needs and evolving schedules. Requires a minimum of six months of behavioral health experience (one year preferred), a high school diploma or equivalent, 18+ years old, strong interpersonal skills, multitasking and time-management abilities, proficiency with web-based platforms and electronic documentation, a reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet workspace, and flexibility to work within operating hours including weekends/holidays. Completion of pre-employment screening, including a background check and live scan fingerprinting, is required. This is a fully remote, part-time role with an initial three-week, 40-hour-per-week training at the start of employment, and opportunities to learn about loan repayment programs offered by the organization.
