Job Summary
The Purchasing Agent supports procurement and supply chain operations by sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, processing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. Responsibilities include processing and tracking approved purchase orders, evaluating and maintaining supplier relationships, monitoring inventory levels, coordinating purchases, managing pallet purchases/receipts/usage, tracking non-inventoried items, handling forklift maintenance-related PO activity, following up on open POs, and communicating updates to receiving departments. The role also involves analyzing purchasing trends to identify cost-saving opportunities, maintaining accurate purchasing records for compliance, and collaborating with operations, inventory, warehouse, manufacturing, and finance teams. Cross-training on MRP processes to provide departmental support is also required. Proficiency in Excel/Outlook and experience with ERP/MRP systems are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain functions preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Experience with ERP, purchasing, inventory, or MRP systems preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
