Job Summary
EC Teacher delivers direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities in inclusive classroom environments, develops and implements IEPs, adapts curriculum and materials to support academic, behavioral, and social goals, and uses multisensory and phonetic strategies to address diverse learner needs. Responsibilities include planning lessons, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with parents and a multidisciplinary team, implementing positive behavioral supports, conducting IEP meetings, monitoring progress, and providing crisis intervention as needed. The role requires knowledge of ABSS policies and state/federal mandates, strong assessment and data collection skills, and the ability to work with administrators, staff, students, and families to promote student success. Mastery in adapting general education content for students with disabilities and experience with data-driven planning for inclusive settings are valued; Spanish-speaking capability is a preferred qualification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an approved program in special education
- Must possess valid NC certification in the area of Exceptional Children in one or more specialty areas, or be eligible to receive certification
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
- Experience working with students with special needs
