Job Summary
Exceptional Children Teacher responsible for planning and providing specialized instruction for students with disabilities, developing and implementing Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in classroom settings, monitoring progress, and maintaining records in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Requires collaboration with administrators, colleagues, parents, and community members; employing instructional strategies to support students’ academic, behavioral, and social development; and fulfilling duties related to inclusive education, data collection, and multidisciplinary team coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an approved program in special education
- Must possess valid NC certification in the area of Exceptional Children in one or more specialty areas, or be eligible to receive certification
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
- Experience working with students with special needs
