Job Summary
Instruct, coach, and support student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training for the 8th Grade Baldwin Boys Basketball program. Execute practice plans and game-day strategies while providing consistent feedback on performance, technique, and personal growth. Lead the team to embody ethical values, sportsmanship, and teamwork, ensuring full compliance with Ohio School Law, OHSAA bylaws, and district policies. Maintain accurate records for physical exams and equipment inventories, supervising athletes in locker rooms, on buses, and during events. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration while modeling the Portrait of an Educator to champion academic achievement and character development. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, driving to various school sites or events as required.
Required Qualifications
- Pupil Activity Permit (PAP)
- Fundamentals of Coaching
- Concussion Training
- Lindsay's Law
- CPR/First Aid
- Current BCI/FBI background check
- Completed digital onboarding forms
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of: Technical aspects, rules, and strategies of the specific sport
- Knowledge of: OHSAA rules and regulations and Ohio School Law
- Knowledge of: Adolescent development and positive behavioral reinforcement
- Knowledge of: Emergency safety protocols and injury prevention
- Skilled in: Effective communication and interpersonal relations
- Skilled in: Organization and time management during practices and events
- Skilled in: Conflict resolution and situational problem-solving
- Ability to: Demonstrate and explain athletic techniques clearly to students of varying skill levels
- Ability to: Manage groups of students effectively in various environments
- Ability to: Maintain composure and professional conduct under high-pressure competitive environments
- Ability to: push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion
- Ability to: interact with unruly children
Desired Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience at the interscholastic, collegiate, or youth level
- Proven ability to motivate student-athletes and maintain positive community relations
- Knowledge of district-specific athletic policies and OHSAA regulations
