Job Summary

Coordinate and schedule driver assignments for fixed bus routes, evening shifts, lift-bus operations, lunch relief, and tours. Monitor arrival and departure times, assign special requests, and communicate with the public, transportation staff, and security. Maintain records for route schedules, driver guides, and Friday night church pick-up lists while performing data entry and filing. Serve as back-up bus drivers to transport residents, screen passengers, assist those using mobility devices, and report accidents or maintenance issues immediately.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school
  • Two years' experience in transporting
  • Two years' experience communicating with passengers
  • Two years' experience communicating with co-workers
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job
  • Knowledge of computer and applicable software programs
  • Knowledge of the geography of the community
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain rules and regulations
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to relate to the needs and concerns of residents
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationship with other employees, the public and to deal with public relations problems courteously and tactfully
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License
  • Possession of a Commercial B License with passenger endorsement
  • Medical Certificate Examination (DL 51)
  • Enrollment in the DMV Pull Notice Program
  • Enrollment in the Random Testing Program for Controlled Substances and Alcohol
  • Ability to pass the Functional Capacity Test showing ability to safely handle and secure passengers using mobility devices
  • Regular Attendance

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to kneel

  • Ability to push a wheelchair-bound passenger weighing up to approximately 300 pounds
