Job Summary
Administer, score, and record diagnostic tests for English language learners while reinforcing classroom skills through individual and small group instruction. Assist the teacher in devising special strategies based on student needs, guide independent study, and distribute instructional materials. Supervise students during drills, assemblies, and field trips, while maintaining classroom displays, checking attendance, and assisting with lunch, cleanup, and wash-up routines. Alert the teacher to student issues and serve as the primary support for substitute teachers. Maintain confidentiality and participate in in-service training. Requires high school diploma, two years of college or AA degree, and conversational fluency in Spanish.
Required Qualifications
- Holds a high school diploma and completed at least two full years of college or holds an AA degree or pass the ParaPro Praxis test
- Has a record of successful employment
- Genuine interest in and ability to relate to students
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the general public
- Good organizational skills
- Good command of the English language
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and direction
- At least one-year's experience as an Instructional Assistant
