Job Summary
Coach all scheduled games and lead every practice session, establishing fundamental skills, techniques, and a philosophy of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship for student-athletes. Direct staff development through meetings and clinics, delegate specific duties, and analyze staff effectiveness at season's end. Monitor and enforce student eligibility, apply injury prevention procedures, and uphold the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners coaching license and Professional Code of Ethics. Collaborate with the varsity coach, administration, cheerleaders, and boosters to promote the athletic program and ensure adherence to district and state association rules. Maintain equipment inventory, advise parents on conduct codes, and respond to emergency situations while supporting school district goals. This temporary exempt position requires a valid coaching license, previous coaching experience, and the ability to work under pressure in varying temperatures.
Required Qualifications
- Valid coaching license through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of the season
- Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, instruct, and supervise students athletes and a coaching staff
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm
- Proficient in organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking
- Exposure to communicable diseases
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Background Clearance
