Job Summary
Develop practice and competition schedules, manage equipment inventory, and monitor student athlete academic progress to ensure eligibility. Supervise practices and competitions while correcting conduct, emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and discipline. Coordinate facilities, maintain rosters, and hold parent meetings for preseason and postseason events. Ensure physical examinations are completed, report injuries, and maintain IHSAA certification and CPR skills. Work with athletes and parents to promote school and community interest in the sport.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of the sport assigned
- Prior successful coaching experience
- Familiar with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) rules
- Familiar with National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules
- IHSAA and NFHS Coaching Certification
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Knowledge and understanding of the concussion protocol
- Ability to communicate with parents and students
- Ability to address situations dealing with blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Ability to foster positive student-athlete relationships
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
- Exhibits high standards of professional ethics and conduct
- Successfully complete criminal history and DCS clearances
- Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes
- Visually able to monitor athlete's performance
- Ability to lift, reach and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
- Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace
- Adhere to and agree to adhere to PTS Core Values, the PTS Strategic Plan, and all PTS District policies and guidelines
Desired Qualifications
