Job Summary
Drive the YMCA van for about 5-6 hours per week (Tue/Thu 2:30-3:30 pm; Wed 12:00-1:00 pm) servicing the Newton, MA area while providing safe, positive transportation to program sites. Perform before-and-after trip checks, log gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms, and keep van stocked with first aid supplies. Maintain safety at all times, support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives, announce and enforce van rules, and build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, parents, teachers and children. Must have a minimum of one year van-driver experience, a 7D license, knowledge of 7D passenger-vehicle guidelines, CPR and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire, and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups. Must be able to safely drive for long periods and respond to emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum one-year work experience as a van driver
- Possess appropriate class license (7D License)
- Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to 7D passenger vehicles
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR and First Aid
- Desire and ability to work with children
- Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents
