Job Summary
The RRT performs a range of cardiopulmonary therapies and diagnostic procedures, including arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, and various forms of ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene, and airway maintenance for both adults and neonates, under indirect supervision. Responsibilities include respiratory assessment and treatment, interpreting chest X-rays, ABG and PFT data, operating and troubleshooting cardiopulmonary equipment, infection control and quality assurance tasks, and contributing to patient satisfaction through appropriate patient scripting. Requires graduation from an accredited respiratory care program, Texas licensure, NBRC registration, BLS and ACLS, with NRP/PALS to be obtained within one year of hire, and at least 6 months of respiratory care experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification
- NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support 60;— must obtain within 1 year of hire
- Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- At least 6 months respiratory care experience
