Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, and graders to dig, move, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, or other materials for construction and related activities. Drive bulldozers or other heavy machinery to clear brush and tree stumps prior to timber and surface mining operations at mining sites. Utilize heavy equipment with pile-driving attachments to drive piles into the ground to support buildings, bridges, or other structures. Operate dredging equipment to deepen waterways or improve land, and use paving equipment to spread, lay, or compact concrete, asphalt, and other surface materials for highway and road construction. Drive excavators to load rock, ore, or other materials from open-pit, strip, quarry, or construction sites, and operate heavy machinery to move and handle cargo. Conduct pre-operation inspections, clean, lubricate, and refuel equipment daily. Requires high school diploma, one to two years of vocational training, or relevant secondary/college/industrial coursework combined with on-the-job training. Hourly wage ranges from $25 to $30.
