Job Summary
Read technical specifications to determine material quantities. Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, blasting, pressure washing, and steam cleaning; remove old wallpaper and peeling paint; repair cracks and holes. Mix and apply thin coats to achieve desired color and texture. Apply paint or materials like stains, varnish, or metal finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers. Measure, cut, and paste wallpaper or fabric. Assemble scaffolding and towers. Advise clients on color coordination and wallpaper selection. Provide cost estimates. Requires high school diploma, 3–4 years of vocational training, or 3+ years experience. Salary $15–$21/hour.
