Job Summary
Warehouse Operator I at Odyssey Logistics (Gary, IN) is responsible for safely managing warehouse inventory through receiving, shipping, storage, and material movement processes. Operates forklifts, overhead cranes, track mobile equipment, and other warehouse machinery to ensure products are handled efficiently and safely. Responsibilities include receiving and shipping with handheld scanners, pulling work orders, inventory movement, proper storage, packaging steel coils, and loading/unloading materials following safety procedures. Ensures OSHA compliance, conducts equipment inspections, maintains accurate records and documentation, and supports continuous improvement through team collaboration and training. Onsite role with a typical 40-hour week and overtime as needed; reports to the Warehousing Manager; requires adherence to PPE and safety guidelines and ability to work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of warehouse/industrial experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Experience operating forklifts/overhead cranes/track mobile equipment/handheld scanners preferred
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and OSHA standards preferred
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to accurately complete documentation and data entry
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
